Learn a new skill with a course from Austin Peay's Center for Extended and Distance Education.

Community Service Programs
 “Parents, Children and Divorce” is the state-mandated course divorcing parents with minor children are required to take before the divorce is granted. The father and mother do not attend the class at the same time, and children are not permitted to attend. For Dickson County residents, the class runs from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1 in the Renaissance Center, Room 220. Montgomery County residents may chose from two course sections. Section one will meet from 5:45-9:45 p.m., Monday, Nov. 3 in APSU's Clement building, Room 132. Section two will meet from 9 a.m.-1p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15 in APSU's Clement building, 132. The course and textbook fee is $30.
 “Motorcycle: Basic Rider Course” provides basic mental and motor skills for new riders. Chose one of three course sections. Section one meets from 5:45-10 p.m., Friday Nov. 7 and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 8 and 9 in APSU's Armory Building, Room110. Section two meets from 5:45-10 p.m., Friday, Nov. 14, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 15 and 16 in APSU's Armory Building, Room110. Section three meets from 5:45-10 p.m., Friday Nov. 21, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 22 and 23 at Fort Campbell, building 605. Computer Software User Training
 “Overcoming Computerphobia” teaches a beginner how to use standard software, hardware and the Internet through hands-on exercises. Classes will meet from 6-8 p.m., Monday and Wednesday, Nov. 3-12. The course will run again from 10 a.m.-noon, Tuesday and Thursday, Nov. 4-13. Both courses will meet at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $65. The lab and supply fee is $12.
 “Microsoft Word XP Basics” teaches students to create, edit and organize documents. Students should be computer literate. The class will meet from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, Nov. 4-18 at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $81 and the text is $23.
 “Microsoft Excel XP Basics” teaches students to enter data and use formulas and functions in an Excel spreadsheet. The class will meet from 6-8 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Nov. 17 through Dec. 1 at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course and text fee is $109.

Languages, Leisure Learning and Personal Development
 “Sign LanguageBeginner, Part 1” teaches the basics of conversational-level American Sign Language, the manual alphabet, finger spelling and deaf culture. A follow-up video will be used with each lesson. The course will run from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4-Dec. 9 in APSU's Clement building, Room132. The course fee is $64 and the text is $35.
 “Sign Language— Beginner Part 2” is designed for students who have completed “Sign Language— Beginner Part 1” or have some basic signing skills. Explores basics of American Sign Language and introduces the art of signing music. Classes will meet from 6-8 p.m., Thursdays, Nov. 6— Dec. 18 in APSU's Clement Building, Room132. The course fee is $65 and the text is $35.
 “Conversational Spanish for Beginners” explores fundamentals of verbal communication in Spanish. Previous experience with the language is not necessary. Classes will meet from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4-Dec. 9 at 106 Public Square, Clarksville. The course fee is $81 and the text is $15.

 “Online Certificate in Gerontology” is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of individuals who work with older adults in the areas of nursing, teaching, service, administration and research. The course runs from Nov. 5-Dec. 12. The course fee is $189.
 “Online Certificate in Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM)” teaches students a broader understanding of alternative health-care options. The course is relevant for RNs, LPNs, physicians, therapists, educators, counselors, clergy and other health-care professionals. The course runs from Nov. 5-Dec. 12. The course fee is $199.
 “Online Certificate in Spirituality, Health and Healing” is designed to meet the needs of health-care professionals who work with diverse religions and spiritual populations. The course runs from Nov. 5-Dec. 12. The course fee is $149.

 “Paralegal Prep” is a six-part training program that prepares people to work in a law office. The basic skills needed by paralegal support staff are explored in each course.
Paralegal Prep courses 1-6 each run from Nov. 5 — Dec. 12. The fee for each course is $150.

Microsoft Office (MOS) Specialist Prep Courses
 “MOS Access XPCore Certification” explores database concepts, terminology, planning and design. Teaches users to manipulate data, create tables, add records and more. Chose from one of two course sections. Both sections meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, Nov. 13- Dec. 2 at 106 Public Square. Section one will meet from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Section two will meet from 9 a.m.-Noon. The course, lab and textbook fee is $207.

MCP & MCSA Training and Certification
 “MCSASupporting MS Windows 2000 Server” provides practical information on installing, configuring and administering MS Windows 2000 Server. Builds real-world system support skills and prepares learners for MCP Exam 70-215. The course will meet from 6-10 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Nov. 19 through Jan. 5 at 106 Public Square. The course fee is $1,250. The text and lab fee is $69.
