APSU announces Natalie Welch Memorial Scholarship

The family of Natalie Welch has established a scholarship in her memory at Austin Peay.

Just prior to her death, Welch, 22, had entered Savannah College of Art, after taking several classes at APSU. The Clarksville High School graduate was senior class president, an honor roll student and a member of the soccer team.

The scholarship in her memory will be awarded to an APSU art major.

“Natalie's love of art consumed her,” says Clarksville High art teacher Linda Elliott. “Her range of work proclaimed that she wanted to try it allfrom simple drawings to pottery to complex paintings. Her artwork was beautiful, imaginative and often very exceptional.

“A scholarship in Natalie's memory is a fitting tribute to a lovely young lady who painted our world brighter and who enhanced our lives by having known her.”
