The All State earns accolades

The All State, the student-produced newspaper at Austin Peay State University, won four awards at the annual Southeast Journalism Conference.

The conference, which took place the weekend of Feb. 21 at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, hosted universities and colleges from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Awards were given to the following APSU students:
Patrick Armstrong, Lebanon, features editor and photographer, earned sixth place in Best Press Photographer.

Awards were given to the following APSU students:
Patrick Armstrong, Lebanon, features editor and photographer, earned sixth place in Best Press Photographer.

Jessica Baird, Clarksville, contributing reporter, earned fifth place in the Best Arts and Entertainment Writer category.

Kasey Henricks, Chattanooga, editor in chief, earned sixth place in Best Opinion-Editorial Writer.

Kyle Nelson, Dickson, news editor, earned second place in News Writing during an on-site competition.

This year's conference featured college media workshops, competitions and keynote speeches by Paul Conley, media consultant and editorial mentor, and Shepard Smith, a journalist with Fox News.
