3 art professors to embark on nationwide tour of ‘Metropolis'

Three members of the Austin Peay State University Art Department faculty, Barry Jones, Kell Black and Robb Fladry, are preparing to embark on a nationwide tour to showcase Metropolis Remix Live, their remake of the 1927 film Metropolis.

Metropolis Remix Live features reassembled scenes from the original Fritz Lang film, alongside modern images and electronic music.

After premiering in front of a packed crowd in Clarksville in early November, Jones, Black and Fladry are thrilled about bringing their work to universities and colleges around the country.

“Metropolis Remix Live” features reassembled scenes from the original Fritz Lang film, alongside modern images and electronic music.

After premiering in front of a packed crowd in Clarksville in early November, Jones, Black and Fladry are thrilled about bringing their work to universities and colleges around the country.

“I was absolutely amazed by the response and the turnout at the first performance. We were all nervous performing the piece for the first time, but everything went off without a hitch,” Jones said. “We are all having an incredible time and really look forward to sharing the piece when we hit the road. Each performance will be unique, and we already have started adding to the piece.”

“Metropolis Remix Live” will be shown at multiple campuses including Vanderbilt University, Elon University, Murray State University, Maryland Institute College of Art, Western Kentucky University, University of Richmond and Emory and Henry College.
