113 student-athletes earn Athletic Director's Honor Roll recognition

For the third straight semester, APSU has surpassed the 110 mark for the number of student-athletes earning Athletics Directors Honor Roll recognition.

In fact, the 113 student-athletes being named to the Athletics Directors Roll (3.0 grade-point average) ranks only behind the 119 honored last fall and 116 in Spring 2004.

While our student-athletes strive to excel in competition, they also have that same drive in the classroom, said APSU Athletics Director Dave Loos. We are proud of both their academic and athletic achievements.

“While our student-athletes strive to excel in competition, they also have that same drive in the classroom,” said APSU Athletics Director Dave Loos. “We are proud of both their academic and athletic achievements.

“The large number of student-athletes receiving this honor is a credit to them but also to our faculty and student-support staff, who have embraced the commitment we have in not only promoting success on the court and field but as well as keeping academics a top priority.

“We couldn't have continued our success in the classroom this spring without the work of Cheryl (Holt). She stepped in as interim academic coordinator without any drop-off in performance. I know our athletes and coaches really appreciate the work she did.”

APSU had 42.4 percent of its athletes earn a 3.0 grade-point average or better. Of those, 17 earned perfect 4.0 GPAs, being named to the President's List with a total of 55 earning Dean's List (3.5 GPA) distinction.
