Do I have to get my books through the Austin Peay State University bookstore or can I order them online?
Austin Peay State University encourages all students to obtain their textbooks and other supplies from the Austin Peay Bookstore, but there is no requirement to the same. In order to obtain textbooks from some other source, a store or online source, the student must obtain the ISBN for the text. The ISBN is a number assigned to every text printed in the United States and most foreign countries. The number is individual for that book and varies for edition and whether paper or hard back. The ISBN is available at the APSU Bookstore. In addition, it is our intention at the APCFC to obtain the ISBNs early for each term so that we can post them on our web site. The ISBN may also be obtained from the University Department or individually from the instructor. Remember, if you are deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, it will take at least thirty (30) days for shipped books to reach you.
Sometimes students believe they can take on-line courses and not purchase the required textbook. This is not a good practice as the on-line lecture notes do not cover all material in the course. Many instructors, both on-line and on-site, will ask questions straight from the text. Further, the text will contain charts, tables, photographs, and diagrams not in the lecture notes. Purchase a text.
