The Foy Fitness and Recreation Center will be holding a Wellness Workshop on October 7th from 11:30am-12:30pm. This workshop is going to be a cooking concepts class and will take place in the UC. These FREE classes are a great way to learn about healthy eating and have a chance to sample a healthy recipe for free. No registration is required.
Jr. Govs Casual Care will be offered at the Foy Monday through Friday from 4-8 p.m.; starting Aug. 24. The cost is $5, per child, for 90 minutes of time. Your child can bring their homework and snacks and we will provide other activities. Please visit our front desk for registration form.
Session II of Aerial Fitness will begin Oct. 30 and will end Nov. 22. This class is a 4-week program, meeting Sundays from 4-5 p.m. and Fridays from 4:45-5:45 p.m. Registration will begin on October 5th. The class will be capped at 16 people. Prices are Students: $15, Affiliates:$20 and Community Patrons: $25 for each four-week program.
Adventure Recreation will be traveling to Destin Beach, Florida during this year’s fall break. This is going to be a 4 day trip from October 9th to October 12th. Registration for this trip will close on October 7th. The cost for this trip is $105 for students, $115 for affiliates, and $130 for community members. What better way is there to spend your fall break than with your feet in the sand?
Adventure Recreation is holding a logo contest for its 8th annual bouldering competition. The theme is:Warning: Bouldering May Cause Social Interaction. Logos must be submitted by October 7th. The designs can consist of a max of two colors and can be turned in, in either vector format or hard copy from at the rock wall. The Dept. of Theatre and Dance will host Cheryl Ann Sanders from the acclaimed Cirque du Soleil from October 6 through October 10. Ms. Sanders will present a cabaret style show on Thursday, October 8 in the Trahern Theatre at 7:00pm. A reception will follow this free performance. This residency is a part of the 2015-2016 Roy Acuff Chair of Excellence in the Creative Arts.
Dr. Kelly Jones, asst. professor of history, will discuss and describe the Emancipation Proclamation through a variety of lenses—political, economic, equality, and as war strategy. The Proclamation will be placed in the context of the measures and actions that led to freedom, as well as within the context of the war itself, so that listeners can see the big picture of how freedom was accomplished.
The Political Science Department and Pre-Law Society will be hosting a Law School Fair on Wednesday, October 14 from 8-2 in the MUC Ballroom. Up to 20 law schools here to discuss admission requirements and hand out info. Interested in going to law school, but not sure where?
