This week long event, to be held Sept. 14 - 17, 5-7 pm daily,will showcase the variety of adaptive equipment,exercises,& classes University Recreation offers to those with disabilities. The Expo is open to all of the APSU Community & we encourage participants of all levels of ability to come support/experience UREC from a different point-of-view. The event is free,pre-registration is not required.
UREC's Adventure Recreation Department is going on its' 1st trip of the season and the APSU community is encouraged to join! The group will spend the day visiting Rock Island State Park and it's surrounding water falls. For more information please visit University Recreation's website, link below.
National Run @ Work Day will be held Friday, September 18th this year! This annual event is sponsored by the Road Runners Club of America and is an initiative to get people active during their work day. Jr. Govs Casual Care will be offered at the Foy Monday through Friday from 4pm to 8 pm; starting Aug 24th. The cost is $5.00, per child, for 90 minutes of time. Your child can bring their homework and snacks and we will provide other activities. Please visit our front desk for registration form.
UREC & the Physics Department will host the 2nd Annual Water Balloon Battleship, Friday, Sept. 11, 5 -8 pm, at McGregor Park/Riverfest. Teams will compete to hit targets using water balloon launchers. Water balloon launchers will be provided, but teams are welcome to build their own launchers based on mechanical principals. This is a free event and registration will take place at the event.
Starting September 13th the Foy Fitness and Recreation Center will be offering a new Aerial Fitness Class. This class is a 4-week program, meeting Sundays from 4-5pm and Fridays from 4:45-5:45pm. The class will be capped at 12 people. Dates are Sept.13-Oct.6 & Oct.25-Nov.17. Prices are Students: $15, Affiliates:$20, & Community Patrons:$25, for each 4-week program.
The Society of Student Scholars is hosting another interest meeting this Friday (Sept. 4), 12:20-1:20 in UC 305! SSS is a student colloquium series in which students from any field/major work with student & professor mentors to prepare & give brief talks on a topic of your choosing in a fun atmosphere. There are lots of perks to being a SSS member, but you'll have to come Friday to find out!
