F.A.M. Officers & Committee Members

F.A.M. officers are a group of students made up from F.A.M. to oversee and serve as a leadership team for Future Alumni Members.

How can I become a F.A.M. Officer or serve on a committee?

Students must fill out an officer application (which you can pick up at Pace Alumni Center or at F.A.M. meeting) and submit to the Alumni Relations Office to be considered for the F.A.M. officers board.

Officer and Committie Chair Information

President: The President is responsible for overseeing the entire organization and assisting the advisor in decisions and interviews of newly elected officers. He/she is expected to attend at least one National Alumni Association Board meeting throughout his/her term. The President is in charge of overseeing and holding each Future Alumni Member Officer meeting and member meeting. He/she will work with the other officers in deciding new programs/events and in making any necessary changes and/or additions to the Bylaws and Constitution.

Vice President: The Vice President will assist the President in each of his/her duties. He/she is expected to attend at least one National Alumni Association Board meeting throughout his/her term. He/she will assist in overseeing and holding each Future Alumni Member Officer meeting and member meeting. He/she will work with the other officers in deciding new programs/events and in making any necessary changes and/or additions to the Bylaws and Constitution.

Secretary: The Secretary will be expected to attend each Future Alumni Member Officer and Member meeting. While there, he/she will keep notes of who attended and the details discussed during each meeting. He/she is expected to assist the Membership Chair in updating the member database with contact information for each member. He/she will assist the President and Vice President in contacting each member (via e-mail) about upcoming meetings, programs/events and Future Alumni Member information. The Secretary will assist the other officers in deciding new programs/events and in making any necessary changes and/or additions to the Bylaws and Constitution.

Public Relations Committee:This committee serves as a marketing tool for the FAM. Members are responsible for getting information out about FAM activities to the student body. This involves developing creative ways of catching students' attention in order to increase FAM's student attendance to the events we put on. A big part of this committee's role is in the FAM Signature Event to be determined. This committee is in charge of publicizing the event throughout the state of Tennessee.

GOV Run Committee (10-15 people)

This committee is responsible for working with the Office of Alumni Relations to help plan and execute this event. The GOV Run is FAM’s signature event, with its inaugural kickoff in 2013. This is a fun color run that invites the entire community (students, family, alumni, and friends) to come enjoy a time of fun and excitement. Last year a budget of over $5000 was used and over 500 people participated. We estimate that in 2014 these numbers will double.  

·         Head Chair(s)

o   This position is over the Gov Run committee in conjunction with the advisor and officers. Chairs assist with all organization, meeting hosting, and completion of tasks. The main responsibility of this position is organizing the Gov Run. They help decide on details such as date and venue. They also play a big part in recruiting members and students to participate in events.

·         Financial Chair

o   This position will be expected to oversee all funds in dealing with the Gov Run. He/she will keep track of all money brought into the account or withdrawn from the account. These transactions must be approved by the Alumni Relations Office.  He/she must keep an updated database of all monetary activity. He/she will work with the other committee members in deciding transactions

·         Fundraising/Sponsorship Chair

o   This position develops and seeks fundraising and sponsorship opportunities. The main focus is to cover all costs associated with the GOV Run. This committee is in charge of collecting sponsorships and prize donations for events. They are also a part of organizing events and seeing their ideas carried out.

·         Marketing Chair

o   This position serves as a marketing tool for the Gov Run. Members are responsible for getting information out about FAM activities to the student body. This involves developing creative ways of catching students' attention in order to increase student and alumni attendance. A big part of this role is in dedicated to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter promotion.

·         Planning/logistics chair

o   This position will lead the planning and logistics behind the event with assistance from the Alumni Office. They will work to secure all signage, volunteers, layout, course, and staging. They will also need to be present for the entire event.

·         T-shirt & Music Chair

o   This position will present t-shirt ideas and work with the fundraising chair for sponsorships on the t-shirts. There are two designs (1 for volunteers & 1 for runners). This chair will also be responsible for securing a DJ and selecting music that is appropriate for the event.

 

Career Networking Committee (5-10 people)

This committee is responsible for working with the Office of Alumni Relations and the Career Networking Overall Committee to help plan and execute this event. Career Networking Event takes place in February every year in the Morgan University Center Ballroom and is comprised of 50-75 alumni and 200-300 students participating. It is currently in its 9th year of running.

·         Head Chair(s)

o   This position is over the Career Networking committee in conjunction with the advisor and officers. Chairs assist with all organization, meeting hosting, and completion of tasks. The main responsibility of this position is organizing the Career Networking Event. They help decide on details such as date and venue. They also play a big part in recruiting members and students to participate in events.

·         Marketing Chair
