Internship Fair 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The “The Govs Connection” at Austin Peay will be held Wednesday, Feb. 25, in the Ballroom of the Morgan University Center on campus. Time for this event is 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sponsors for 2015 will be the National Alumni Association, Office of Career Services, the Communications Department, Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center and the Office of Student Life and Engagement.

This event is of great value and importance to businesses, organizations, alumni and students. The event is a combination of two events which are detailed below; The Career Networking Event and Internship Fair. The Career Networking event provides an opportunity for successful alumni to return to campus to spend time with students in one-on-one, small-group or roundtable discussions (not in a lecture format to a large group) to share their experiences, offer practical advice and give students a realistic picture of their respective fields. The Internship Fair allows businesses and organizations to meet with APSU students and alumni looking for internships in various fields.

This is a FREE event for students! Students may come at any time between 8-11 am and 1– 4 p.m. A free LinkedIn picture booth with professional photographer will be available for all guests and students.

For more information, call the APSU Alumni Relations Office at (931) 221-7979 or emailkeanr@apsu.edu

Please arrive for set-up around 7:00-7:30 a.m. on the morning of Feb. 25. When you enter the University Center Ballroom,  please look for your category (via signage). Your nametag will be located on a table in your particular area along with any other important information.

There are no particular items you will need when you arrive. Some alumni, in the past, have brought: business brochures/flyers, business cards, give-a-ways, etc. This is completely up to you.

Here's what past alumni have said about this event:

“I've come to all but one of these events in the past and have met and spoken at length with many bright, and potentially very employable students. There's no question that APSU provides a solid starting point for many career choices. Events like this - giving students a brief "real world" view of many occupations - fill a genuine void in the college experience, and serve to start a lifetime "network" of vocational contacts.”

- Phil Wood

“Exciting time to engage APSU students to share ideas, respond to great questions, and reconnect with faculty and staff.”

- William Graham

“The alumni who come to the Career Networking Event are there to share their real-world experiences in their respective professions with students. It is a great opportunity for students to get a first-hand look at possibilities for their own futures.” – Ronald Miller

    • "What do you like about your job or career field?"
    • "Is your field growing, and where do I start for this career field?"
    • "Are there other degrees, certificates, or training that I need to have?"
    • "What does your schedule look like? Working hours? Job Responsibilities? Travel?"
    • "What is some advice for entering your field of work?"
