Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ("Title VI") is the federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. As a recipient of these funds, APSU is required to follow the provisions of Title VI, and therefore, all facilities, programs, and services sponsored by the University are available to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, or national origin.
Another important facet of Title VI involves providing meaningful access to programs and services for individuals that are considered to have Limited English Proficiency ("LEP"). In our programs and/or services, APSU does not discriminate against anyone based on their ability to communicate in English. To ensure that all individuals are able to communicate, either in writing or verbally, the University utilizes Avaza Language Service Corporation who provides translation and interpretation services on an as needed basis.
