Not at APSU.  Austin Peay offers scholarships to assist students in reducing the rate of their out of state tuition through various out of state scholarships and tuition reduction programs.  


Austin Peay State University is located in the heart of historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee, just 45 miles northwest of Nashville.  Clarksville is home to 135,000 people. Surrounded by natural beauty, the amenities of city living and an array of opportunities for outdoor recreation can be found in Clarksville.


The 190-acre campus strikes a balance between lush green space and state-of-the-art facilities, including one of the state’s premier science education complexes, a fitness center and village-style student apartments. Continually ranked by the Tennessee Burea of Investigation as one of the safest campuses in Tennessee, Austin Peay provides a safe campus environment for students.


With options that include freshman only residence halls, on campus apartments for upperclassmen, shared suites and private rooms you are sure to find on campus housing to meet your needs. All residents have free access to the Internet, cable television and laundry machines.


With choices like Starbucks, Subway, Papa Johns, Chic-Fil-A and a wide variety of other dinning options all within your meal plan, you will find there's no need to leave campus to get great food.


Conviently located less than an hour from the Nashville International Airport, Austin Peay is an easy school to get to.  Not that far?  Austin Peay does allow students, inlcuding freshman, to have cars on campus so you may find that Austin Peay is just a drive away.  

Austin Peay students can ride the Clarksville Transit System busses for free!  Bus stops are located in several locations around campus and the bus depot is just three blocks away.


With an average class size of just 24 students and a student to faculty ration of 19:1, Austin Peay professors can provide personal attention in a setting that allows for conversation, not just lectures.  We also have great out-of classroom academic opportunities for our students.  Through our Centers of Excellence, Office of Study Abroad and International Exchange, and Office of Undergraduate Research students are able to find out-of classroom experiences to broaden their academic horizons.

Student Life:

The university offers more than 100 student organizations and a wide variety of free student activities, such as fitness classes, scholarly discussions, and dive-in movies. With options of greek life to religious affliated organizations to academic and honor societies, you are bound to find a place where you can fit in at Austin Peay.
