Home School Students

Whether you’re looking for a university to call home or searching for experiences to enhance home studies, you’ve come to the right place.

Home school students enjoy one-on-one instruction and personal attention each and every day.  At Austin Peay State University, you’ll find both.

Located in Clarksville, Tenn., APSU is large enough to offer 50 academic majors and more than 70 student organizations, but small enough that most classes have fewer than 30 students.  The university is large enough to attract Grammy Award-winning artists and first-rate faculty, but small enough that professors are able – and want – to assist students inside and outside the classroom.  And, if that’s not enough, tuition rates are some of the most affordable in the state.

Speaking of affordability…
Finding low-cost and free educational events to round out the home school experience is a priority.  At Austin Peay State University, students of every age are welcome to attend music, creative writing, art and other events.  To see what’s coming up, visit our press release archive or Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts calendar.

Whether you come to us for an evening of entertainment and enrichment or choose us as your collegiate home, we’re excited to have you on campus and hope you’ll contact us with any questions or suggestions.

Out of the House
Home-schooling your child/children requires advanced planning.  As you layout your year, know that APSU offers many events during the fall and spring semesters.  From safe trick-or-treating options to performances by Grammy Award-winning artists, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to mix and mingle with other families and enhance the home school experience.  Follow the links below to see what’s coming up.

Applicants who graduated from non-public schools, including private schools, home schools and church-related schools, must submit an official transcript showing credits earned and date of graduation.  The transcript of a home school applicant must be an official copy from an affiliated organization as defined by state law (T.C.A. 49-50-801) or be accompanied by a certification of registration with the superintendent of the local education agency which the student otherwise would attend.  Applicants who cannot provide a satisfactory high school credential may substitute acceptable scores on the GED examination.

What to expect after you have completed your application for admission.
