Admission for First-Time Freshmen

► Submit an APSU undergraduate admission application online or fill out the PDF version

  • You may apply using the Online Application form for admission and readmission or the PDF Application.

  • A $15.00 non-refundable application fee (payable one-time only) which is payable online.

  • Application Deadline -- All required information must be received prior to admission, evaluation of transfer credit and registration.

Admission Requirements - What you need to be eligible for admission to Austin Peay State University, including school transcripts, official GED, ACT and SAT or SAT 1scores, and more.  

  • High School Units - Find out what high school classes are required to meet the Tennessee Board of Regents Admission Requirements.
       

  • Official high school transcripts or official GED scores
    Request official academic transcripts be sent to Austin Peay directly from any high school attended or request official GED scores from the GED testing center.  Hand-delivered transcripts are not acceptable. You may print our Transcript Request Form and send it to your previous institutions.   A special education diploma or high school certificate is not acceptable.  Transcripts of graduates of Tennessee public high schools must include a notation indicating that the student has passed the required Proficiency Examination.
       

  • ACT or SAT/SAT 1 scores -- All first-time applicants under 21 years of age, except for active duty military, are required to submit official scores from the ACT or SAT/SAT 1 examinations sent directly to the Office of Admissions from the high school or ACT/SAT center.  These scores are valid for three years from the test date.  When taking the ACT or SAT, be aware that there is a place on the exam to indicate that you want your scores sent to Austin Peay State University.   Enter our code number, "03944" on the ACT or "1028" on the SAT/SAT 1.  Visit the following Web sites for more information on the ACT or SAT/SAT 1:

COLLEGE CREDIT FOR ACT ENGLISH SUBSCORES OR SAT/SAT 1 VERBAL SCORES

Applicants who have a valid ACT English subscore of 28-30 or SAT/SAT 1Verbal score of 630-690 may receive credit for English 1010.   Those who have a valid ACT English subscore of 31-36 or SAT /SAT 1Verbal score of 700-800 may receive credit for English 1010 and 1020.  The credit will be applied after enrollment in a Fall or Spring semester.

Compass Test - Find out whether you’re required to take the COMPASS. The COMPASS is designed to help you succeed in college studies. It provides you and your academic advisor with important information about your individual skills, your preparation for the program or degree you wish to pursue and about your special educational needs. Test scores will assist your advisor in placing you in courses most suited to your preparation and needs. In short, the COMPASS is the first step toward achieving your academic goals.
  
Immunizations - All first-time, transferring, readmitting, and graduate students entering institutions of higher learning must provide proof of two immunizations with the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccines, which were administered on or after the first birthday. The law further states a student will not be allowed to register for classes until this requirement is met.
     
Housing: Freshmen Residency Requirement - In an attempt to provide opportunities for growth and development outside the home, any full-time, single freshman student under 21 years of age, not residing with his/her parents or legal guardians, is required to live in University Housing for the first two academic semesters.
