With the rising text books and school supply costs, the African American Staff, Administrators and Faculty Association (AASAF) is dedicated to addressing this need by providing financial assistance to our future leaders who are studying and preparing for careers in various disciplines. Beginning Fall 2010, the AASAF Book and Supplies Scholarship Program will award scholarships to students, helping them gain the education they need to succeed while at Austin Peay State University. Each scholarship awarded will provide assistance for these students to purchases text books and school supplies at the APSU Bookstore. A minimum GPA of 2.5 and a recommendation letter from any AASAF member is required. Selection is made by the General Scholarship Committee. Presidential Scholarship

These competitive scholarships are available to high school seniors based on ACT composite score, cumulative grade-point average (GPA), acceptance date, and other criteria. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be entering APSU for the first time in the fall after graduating the previous spring. Award amounts range from $500-$6,000 per year. To be considered for the Presidential Scholarship, applicants must be accepted to APSU before the priority deadline of November 15th for the following fall semester, and meet other eligibility criteria. These scholarships may be awarded before or after any deadline on a declining fund basis. Meeting stated eligibility criteria does not guarantee receipt of a scholarship. Austin Peay State University reserves the right to cancel or change the amount, eligibility criteria, and/or deadline of this scholarship, at anytime. In the first year of enrollment, students must achieve a 2.75 semester and a 2.75 cumulative GPA by the end of the second semester. Thereafter, students will be monitored each semester and must achieve a 2.75 semester and a 2.75 cumulative GPA.. Students must also complete a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester and a minimum of 24 credit hours per academic year. Since state funds are used for these scholarships, recipients are required to work 5 hours per week during each semester of receiving the scholarship. A student who loses his/her scholarship for any of the above reasons may complete an appeal form requesting reinstatement after the lapse of at least one full semester. Honors Program Scholarships

Supplemental scholarships for freshmen enrolling each year in the Honors Program will be granted; $1,000 may be added to other scholarships, up to the University limit. Honors Scholars will be chosen on the basis of high school records, with attention given to both academic and non-academic accomplishments and recommendations. The applicant must have achieved a minimum ACT of 26 (SAT 1170) and a 3.0 GPA. The recipient must be enrolled in the Honors Program and maintain satisfactory standards in that program. The stipend will be subject to renewal each year the student remains in the Honors Program with acceptable performance, in the judgment of the Honors Council. The Kimbrough Memorial Scholarships

This scholarship fund was created in 1987 by Dr. Emory Kimbrough, Jr. in honor of his parents, Emory Calloway Kimbrough and Martha Beaumont Kimbrough. Scholarships are available to high school seniors and community college students in Tennessee and at Hopkinsville Community College. Recipients may receive up to $2,500 annually as a total scholarship package. Each high school recipient must meet the requirements for the Academic Honors Scholarship (3.0 GPA) except that a minimum ACT Composite Score of 26 (SAT 1170), is required. Community college recipients must receive an associate degree or have completed two years at the community college level and have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale). Applications for scholarships and admission should be submitted to the Office of Admissions by February 1 for high school seniors for early decision consideration. April 15 is the deadline for community college transfer students. A student who forfeits his/her scholarship for any of the above reasons may be eligible for consideration after the lapse of at least one full semester or summer term and the attainment of the minimum GPA required for the scholarship. This reinstatement allowance can be exercised only one time by the scholarship recipients and is conditional on funds being available. The President's Emerging Leaders Program offers students the chance to explore leadership theory and further enhance their leadership abilities. The Emerging Leaders Program is designed to teach in an interdisciplinary environment the multiple perspectives of leadership theory, to educate students to use their leadership skills effectively, and to guide students toward the development of ethical principles of leadership. Students are required to complete a series of Leadership classes during their four years at Austin Peay State University, as well as participate in community service projects, guest speaker forums, and internship programs. Students interested in participating in this scholarship program must have a 3.5 GPA, an ACT score of 24, be an entering freshman, exhibit leadership qualities as denoted by participation in high school and community activities, provide a current resume, and have three (3) references (including one from an academic person and one from a person representing a community organization.) Students selected for the Emerging Leaders Program must maintain a cumulative 3.25 GPA in collegiate coursework and must maintain a record of leadership and involvement in campus and community activities. The APSU online scholarship application must be completed by February 1st and the application package (resume, three letters of recommendation) must be submitted by February 27th. Preference will be given to residents of White Bluff, TN., and then to residents of Dickson County, TN> Applicants must be a full-time APSU student (12 or more hours) with at least six hours taken at the Dickson Renaissance Center. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is preferred. The scholarship may be renewed if the student maintains a GPA of 2.5 or greater and meets all other APSU requirements for full-time students and completes the APSU online scholarship application.

This scholarship established by Patricia McReynolds Hancock, is $1,000 annually and provided to a student not eligible for need based financial aid. The recipient must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.8 or above, an ACT Composite score of 18 or above, and be involved in extracurricular activities. At least one of the student’s parents should work in public health (first priority) or teaching/counseling. The Clarksville Civitan Club sponsors an academic scholarship to Austin Peay State University, renewable for up to four years (maximum of two semesters per academic year). This scholarship pays $600 per semester (payable directly to APSU) and is available to a graduate during the current school year from a high school in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. Selection of the recipient is based on academic achievement, civic interest and leadership, good moral character and responsible citizenship, social adaptability and special needs. Recipients must complete at least 12 hours per semester and at least 30 hours per academic year, maintain at least a 2.5 GPA for each semester during the freshman year and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 after each semester following the freshman year. This scholarship is not renewable but is for a period of one year, $750 per semester.

The Charles Mills Memorial Scholarship provides an award of $1,500 annually, $750 per semester, for an incoming freshman who has graduated from Montgomery Central High School in Clarksville, Tennessee. Recipients must have an ACT score of 20 or more, but not necessarily in the upper percentage of his/her graduating class. The recipient can receive the scholarship until he/she graduates as long as he/she is progressing toward graduation. Established through the estate of Luther Tippit, these scholarships provide $1,500 annually to two incoming freshman. Scholarship funds can be used for tuition, books, on-campus dormitory expenses, and on-campus cafeteria expenses. Recipients must be in the upper 25 percent of their graduating class, have good recommendations within and outside the school, have extensive involvement in extracurricular activities, and demonstrate leadership abilities. Students receiving other forms of financial aid are not eligible for these scholarships. Recipients will be required to work five hours per week per semester. Renewal criteria is a minimum cumulative and term GPA of at least a 3.0 . Students must also complete a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester and a minimum of 24 credit hours per academic year. The Global Learning Scholarship funds provide greater access to study-abroad and exchange program opportunities by providing two categories of awards for students participating in APSU sponsored Study-Abroad and Exchange programs. It provides a Merit Scholarship and a Travel Grant award. For the Merit Scholarship the qualified applicant will demonstrate participation in APSU sponsored international activities including student organizations and campus events. Student must be a full-time main campus student that has paid general access fee either for the spring semester of fall semester preceding the study-abroad or exchange program. Student must have 3.5 GPA with no student code of conduct violation history. The applicant will also demonstrate a need to complete the study-abroad or exchange program to further the mission of the global learning scholarships and to meet future educational and professional goals. Along with completing the online scholarship form and the additional form mentioned below, the applicant must submit two sealed letters of recommendation from university faculty or staff on official APSU letterhead and envelope. Applicant must also submit a 300 word minimum essay that describes any participation in International events and organizations, educational goals, and relevance of the study-abroad experience to those goals. These competitive scholarships are available to high school seniors based on ACT composite score, cumulative grade-point average (GPA), and other criteria. These students must be entering college for the first time in the fall after graduating the previous spring. The scholarship award may be up to $3000. These scholarships may be awarded before or after any deadline on a first-come, first-served, declining-funding basis. Meeting stated eligibility criteria does not guarantee receipt of a scholarship. Austin Peay State University reserves the right to cancel or change the amount, eligibility criteria, and/or deadline of this scholarship, at anytime. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the end of the students' second semester and minimum current and cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all remaining semesters. Students must also complete a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester and a minimum of 24 hours per academic year. The President's Emerging Leaders Program offers students the chance to explore leadership theory and further enhance their leadership abilities. The Emerging Leaders Program is designed to teach in an interdisciplinary environment the multiple perspectives of leadership theory, to educate students to use their leadership skills effectively, and to guide students toward the development of ethical principles of leadership. This scholarship, established in 1982 in memory of Jennifer Lynn Vick, daughter of APSU alumni Bob and Jearldene (Bogard) Vick, is administered by the APSU National Alumni Association. Funds for the scholarship are provided by contributions from friends and relatives of the Vick family. The recipient of this scholarship must be in need of financial assistance and maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA. Students must complete a minimum of 12 hours per semester with a 5 hour a week work assignments at the Pace Alumni Center at Emerald Hill.
