Faculty Recruitment (Advertising) Resources

Personal contacts through professional organizations, training facilities, and colleagues at other institutions are usually the most effective networking resources.  Personal contact with professional organizations requesting that the job announcement be shared with members, especially with any women or minority caucuses is encouraged.  Making personal contacts with the caucuses is most likely to result in applicants for positions.

The following directories are designed to aid in the recruitment of minority and female faculty:

  • The Directory of Ford Foundation Fellows contains information on Ford Foundation Postdoctoral fellowship recipients awarded since 1980 and Ford Foundation Predoctoral and Dissertation fellowship recipients awarded since 1986 (view)
  • The CIC Directory of Minority Ph.D., M.F.A., and M.L.S. Candidates and Recipients contains information on highly educated underrepresented minorities who have completed (or expected to complete) the Ph.D, M.F.A., and M.L.S Degree between 2001 and 2003 (view)
  • The CIS Directory of Women in Science and Engineering contains information on highly educated women in science, engineering, and mathematics fields (view)
  • The Minority and Women Doctoral Directory contains information on candidates who have recently received, or are soon to receive, a doctoral or master's degree in their respective field and is located in the Office of Affirmative Action.  Copies from the directory will be provided upon request (request)

Listing job announcements on websites and list-serves specific to each department/position where potential applicants are likely to read because of their interest in the subject is also encouraged.  The following are some general electronic resources that may provide to be useful recruiting resources:
