The summer awarding process is a
separate process from the Fall/Spring semesters. To be
reviewed for Summer 2009 complete the following steps:
1.
To be considered for eligibility, APSU must have a valid
2008-2009 FAFSA on file. If you have not completed your
FAFSA or have a completed application but need to add APSU’s
School Code (003478), visit
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.
2.
You must be officially admitted to APSU as a degree seeking
student.
3.
While an award may be offered prior to the beginning of
Summer, in order to receive the funds, you must be
maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress
http://www.apsu.edu/financialaid/SAT_PROG.htm.
4.
Complete and submit the Summer 2009 Application to our
office (http://www.apsu.edu/financialaid/forms/Sum_Appl_09.pdf).
You will be reviewed for any remaining Pell Grant and
Lottery balance not received in the Fall/Spring semesters.
Student loan recipients must be enrolled a minimum of
half-time.
Important Information for Summer 2009
Federal Pell Grant
If you received Federal Pell Grant funds for less than 24

Example of someone not
eligible for Summer loan funds:
Sue is an independent sophomore who borrowed the maximum
($4,500 Subsidized + $6,000 Unsubsidized = $10,500) for
Fall/Spring semesters. She has not changed grade levels and
becomes a Junior. She would not have remaining loan
eligibility for the Summer term(s).
John is a dependant freshman who borrowed the maximum
($3,500 Subsidized + $2,000 Unsubsidized = $5500) for
Fall/Spring semesters. He has not changed grade levels and
become a sophomore. He would not have remaining loan
eligibility for the Summer term(s).
Example of someone who may
be eligible for Summer loan funds:
Ethan is a dependent senior who borrowed $4,000 in loans
during the Fall/Spring semesters. He is still eligible to
apply for a summer loan for the remainder, which will be a
possible maximum of $3,500.
Annie is an independent Sophomore who borrowed the maximum
($4,500 Subsidized + $6,000 Unsubsidized = $10,500) for
Fall/Spring semesters. At the end of the Spring semester,
she has progressed to Junior status. Her new annual limit
increases by $2500 and can be reviewed for this amount for
the Summer term(s)
