Fee Waivers & Discounts  

To receive credit any student eligible for a fee waiver or discount must submit the appropriate form to the Business Office by the last day of Late Registration each term. A student whose fees are paid with financial aid, scholarships or other educational assistance and whose registration is validated or confirmed by Student Financial Aid must submit any applicable fee waivers or discount forms to the Business Office by the last day of Late Registration each term.  Forms include APSU and Non-APSU Spouse/Dependent, Dependent of Public School Teacher, Dependent of State Employee, State Employee or Retired State Employee discount, and APSU or TBR/UT  Employee fee waiver.  A new form is required for each term. The fee discount program is not retroactive.

Fee Discounts

  • Active Duty Military Personnel Out-of-State Fee Waiver Program for Graduate Programs
    The active duty military personnel out-of-state fee waiver program for graduate studies is available to active duty military personnel stationed outside of Tennessee.  The program offers students the opportunity to enroll in graduate credit courses, regardless of delivery method (on-campus or on-line), and not pay out-of-state tuition.  Active duty military personnel stationed outside of Tennessee will be classified out-of-state but will receive an out-of-state fee waivers equal to the amount of out-of-state tuition.  The out-of-state fee waiver is not available to spouses or dependents of active duty military personnel.
     

  • Active Duty Military Personnel Out-of-State Fee Waiver Program for Undergraduate Programs
    The active duty military personnel out-of-state fee waiver program for GoArmyEd is available to active duty military personnel stationed outside of Tennessee.  The program offers students the opportunity to enroll in credit GoArmyEd courses and not pay out-of-state tuition.  Active duty military personnel stationed outside of Tennessee will be classified out-of-state but will receive an out-of-state fee waivers equal to the amount of out-of-state tuition.  The out-of-state fee waiver is available to all active duty military personnel stationed outside Tennessee whether their fees are paid by the Army or from personal funds. The out-of-state fee waiver is not available to spouses or dependents of active duty military personnel.

     

  • Children of Vietnam Conflict Veterans
    Children of Vietnam Conflict Veterans who died while either serving in Vietnam or as a result of injury sustained while serving in Vietnam, or who have been declared missing in action in Vietnam, may be eligible for waiver of registration and maintenance fees. The parent who is deceased or missing in action must have been a resident of Tennessee. Contact the Veterans Affairs Office in Atlanta, Georgia at 1-800-827-1000 for more information and verification procedures.
     

  • Dependents of POW's or Deceased Veterans
    A dependent child whose parent was killed or died as a direct result of injuries received, or has been officially reported as being either a prisoner of war or missing in action while serving honorably as a member of the United States armed forces during a qualifying period of armed conflict, or the spouse of such veteran, may be eligible for a waiver of tuition and required registration or matriculation fees, and may be admitted without cost to any of the institutions of higher education owned, operated and maintained by the state of Tennessee, if certain age limits, time periods for eligibility, and residency requirements are met. Contact the Veterans Affairs Office in Atlanta, Georgia at 1-800-827-1000 for more information and verification procedures.
     
     

  • Dependents of Certified Public School Teachers or State Employees
    Children or dependents of full-time certified public school teachers or state employees in Tennessee under the age of 24 (age on first day of class) are eligible for a 25 percent discount on undergraduate in-state maintenance fees and technology access fee.  The approved form (available from Admissions) must be submitted to the Business Office each term, by the last day of late registration.
       

  • Dependents or Spouse of TBR/UT Employees
    Dependents 26 years of age or under and the spouse of a full-time TBR employee are eligible for a 50 percent discount on undergraduate in-state maintenance fees and all mandatory student fees payable at registration.  Dependents 26 years of age or under and the spouse of a full-time UT employee are eligible for a 50 percent discount only on undergraduate Maintenance Fees payable at registration.  The approved form (available from Human Resources) must be submitted to the Business Office each term, by the last day of late registration. 
       

  • Employees of Austin Peay State University
    Full-time employees of APSU may enroll for one course per term on a space available basis without paying tuition charges, maintenance fees, debt service, general access fee, and registration fees. Employees must pay any special course fees, except the RODP online course fee. The approved PC 191 form must be submitted to the Business Office each term, by the last day of late registration.  APSU employees may also use the Employee Scholarship Application form.  
       

  • Employees of State of Tennessee
    Full-time employees of the State may enroll in one undergraduate or graduate course without paying tuition charges, maintenance fees, debt service fees, general access fees, and registration fees. Employees must pay any special course fees, except the RODP online course fee. The approved form (available from Admissions) must be submitted to the Business Office each term, by the last day of late registration.  
       

  • Registration for students 60 and 65 years of age or over, and students with disabilities
    A student domiciled in Tennessee who is 60 years of age or older, or one who is permanently and totally disabled, who wishes to audit a course and be exempt from paying fees as provided by Tennessee law may do so by filing in the Office of the Registrar a birth certificate or an acceptable physician's certificate of permanent, total disability (these documents will be duplicated and originals will be returned to the student).  A student domiciled in Tennessee who will become 65 years of age or older during the semester/term, or one who is permanently, totally disabled, may register in courses for credit on a space available basis equal to 50 percent of the per hour rate with the maximum $70Students must pay any special course fees (online course fee, business course fee, science consumables fee, music fee, nursing clinical fee and late registration fee). Appropriate documentation is required.  Contact the Registrar's Office for registration timetables and procedures (931) 221-7121.

Fee discount forms, if applicable, must be submitted by the last day of Late Registration.  (These discount amounts do not apply to Regents Online Degree Program - See special chart)  The following discounts apply to main campus undergraduate courses only. Contact Accounts Receivable for the correct discount if courses include,DSP, Web or off-campus classes.

These discount amounts and fees are in effect Fall 2007 through Summer 2008. 

The above fee discounts apply to Fall and Spring semesters.  If you are taking more than 12 credit hours for the Summer semester, call Accounts Receivable at 931-221-6285 for the correct discount.
